How to reach Ponte Ciolo
Located along the southeastern coast of the Salento peninsula, Il Ciolo is positioned directly below the SP358 coastal highway between Otranto and Santa Maria di Leuca. Travelers can reach it easily by car, motorcycle, or seasonal summer shuttle buses. Accessing the tiny rocky cove requires descending a steep but well-constructed stone staircase that winds down from the bridge level directly into the gorge floor. The walk takes about 5 minutes but involves many steps.
Parking
Where to park near Ponte Ciolo
Free parking is available along the shoulders of the panoramic SP358 coastal road and within a couple of small unpaved pull-off areas near the bridge. Because this is one of Salento's most iconic viewpoints, parking spaces right next to the trailhead fill up extremely fast from mid-morning onward, forcing latecomers to park further away along the highway curves.
